Performance Artist and Cultural Engineer Micheal Dudeck WITCH DOCTOR and Sound Artist/Composer Andy Rudolph present an electro-acoustic ritual performance featuring a cast of 13 performers.
Amygdala is the second exhibition in a ten year project in which Michael Dudeck is inventing a Queer Prehistory and Religion which radically re-imagines the nature of human origins. In this cosmogony, humanity separates into all male and all female homo-normative tribes, and this division eventually leads to a devastating war between the genders.
The exhibition at aceartinc centers around the female War religion, merging drawing, text, photography, sound, and installation. A performance on the opening night, featuring multiple performers as well as the artist himself, is a ritual recitation of portions of theAmygdala, the female religion’s sacred text, which is chanted in Dudeck’s invented language with English interpretation. The performance/installation features collaborations with New York-based artist Juan Betancurth and Winnipeg-based artist, Larry Glawson.
MICHAEL DUDECK WITCHDOCTOR is a trans-disciplinary artist and cultural engineer whose work includes performance art, video/film, drawing, sculpture, web-projects, publications, text-work and installation. His practice is involved with the invention of fictions : mythic, utopic, historic and biological. He creates rituals, dramatizations, documentaries and performances which activate an anthropological instinct in his audience ; blurring histories, merging and hybridizing multiple narratives into non-linear, non-didactic sequences, replete with their own signs and symbols that are puzzles to be assembled.

Amygdala est la deuxième exposition d’un projet de dix ans au sein duquel Michael Dudeck invente une Préhistoire et une religion gaies qui imaginent d’une façon radicale la nature des origines de l’humanité. Dans cette cosmogonie, l’humanité est séparée en deux camps homo-normatifs avec les femmes d’un côté et les hommes de l’autre. Cette division mène éventuellement à une guerre dévastatrice entre les sexes.
L’exposition à aceartinc est centrée autour de la religion guerrière féminine et fusionne dessins, texte, photographie, son et installation. Une performance lors de la soirée d’ouverture, qui met en vedette plusieurs comédiens en plus de l’artiste lui-même, est une récitation rituelle d’une partie de Amygdala, le texte sacré de la religion féminine, que Dudeck chante en une langue inventée avec une interprétation en anglais. La performance/installation présente en spectacle l’artiste new-yorkais Juan Betancurth en collaboration avec l’artiste winnipégois Larry Glawson.
MICHAEL DUDECK WITCHDOCTOR est un artiste pluridisciplinaire et ingénieur culturel qui œuvre en performance artistique, vidéo/film, dessin et sculpture en plus de faire des projets sur internet, des publications, des textes et des installations. Sa pratique se concentre sur l’invention des fictions : mythique, utopique, historique et biologique. Il crée des rituels, des adaptations pour la scène, des documentaires et des performances qui éveillent un instinct anthropologique chez ses spectateurs; il brouille les histoires, confond et croise des narratifs multiples à l’aide de séquences non linéaires, non didactiques qui regorgent de leurs propres significations et symboles, créant ainsi des casse-têtes que l’on doit assembler.
